History of the department

Our current building, within the heart of the South Kensington field, was created within the early Sixties as a part of a nationwide enlargement of universities and that we captive here in 1963.

In 1998, we have a tendency to modified our name to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, to replicate the vital role of our profession within the management and development of each the urban and natural environments.

The main aim of the Department, indeed, of the school, is encompassed in our charter and our Mission Statement, that states that

‘Imperial school embodies and delivers world category scholarship, education and analysis in science, engineering and drugs, with specific respect to their application in business and healthcare’.
